Negotiations between authorities and opposition have begun in Abkhazia

The government and opposition of the republic have begun a dialogue.

The leadership of Abkhazia and the leaders of the protesters began to look for a way out of the current internal political crisis.

On Monday, November 18, the parties began negotiations on the territory of the country's Ministry of Defense, TASS reports.

The government is represented by Vice President Badra Gunba.

The head of the State Customs Committee, Otar Khetsia, and public figure David Pilia also arrived for negotiations with him.

The head of the committee for the protection of the sovereignty of Abkhazia, Levan Mikaa, came from the opposition bloc.

Also participating in the negotiations are MP Kan Kvarchia and the leader of the Abkhaz People's Movement Adgur Ardzinba.

The peak of protest activity in Abkhazia was observed on November 15. Protesters stormed the parliament building and called on the president to resign.

The opposition is against the implementation of the points of the agreement with the Russian Federation on investments. The document envisages the construction of apartments on the territory of the republic with the involvement of Russian capital.

The Abkhaz opposition is seeking full independence and recognition of the state at the international level.

At the same time, Georgia previously announced plans to return Abkhazia and South Ossetia to the republic by 2030.
