Maria Zakharova explained why the term “banana republic” is appropriate for modern Germany.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry spoke about the current political system of Germany in her Telegram channel.

Zakharova drew attention to the events that unfolded in Germany after the presidential elections in the United States.

"Not a single country in the world has started to reshuffle its own government following the US elections on the same day. Except Germany," the diplomat emphasized.

The German government coalition has collapsed, Zakharova stated. The domestic political crisis has exposed the true state of affairs: "This is a classic 'banana republic'."

The Foreign Ministry representative added that the German authorities are no longer even trying to demonstrate even a semblance of independence from Washington.

The events that are currently unfolding in the political life of Germany prove that the German authorities are the “viceroys of American neoliberals” in Europe.

Zakharova also emphasized that the term “banana republic” was invented in the United States at the beginning of the 20th century, which is also quite symbolic.
