Khamzaev proposed allowing deputies to carry weapons given provocations
State Duma deputies may receive the right to carry combat firearms.
State Duma Security Committee member Sultan Khamzaev from United Russia introduced this initiative in connection with the special attention of provocateurs to deputies.
He spoke in favor of the right of State Duma deputies to carry combat firearms, RIA Novosti writes.
According to Khamzaev, this is a security issue, given the special attention paid by Russia’s enemies to deputies.
He also explained that deputies should have this opportunity as a precautionary measure.
Khamzaev added that not every elected official has the opportunity for personal security, and precautionary measures must be taken.
The parliamentarian also said that deputies should be required to pass the GTO standards and take first aid courses.
