Having put economic interests first, Kazakhstan does not want to comply with sanctions against Russia.
Moreover, the country's authorities are interested in deepening trade ties with countries from Iran to China.
Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan and Minister of Trade and Integration of Central Asian Countries Serik Zhumangarin stated this in a conversation with Bloomberg.
He said Kazakhstan would not blindly follow sanctions if they affected important domestic companies.
He also said that the authorities will not allow Kazakhstani producers to be banned from trading.
Kazakhstan is concerned about growing problems in trade with neighboring countries – Russia and Iran, which are becoming the most sanctioned in the world.
At the same time, Kazakhstan is under close scrutiny from the West in terms of facilitating the supply of limited goods.
Zhumangarin explained that the country will continue to comply with sanctions rules, since it will not be able to resist possible US sanctions.
