Japan has spoken out regarding visits by Russian citizens.

The government has urged people to refrain from visiting the country.

Japanese Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi announced this during a press conference, RIA Novosti reports.

Earlier it became known that upper house deputy Muneo Suzuki, who advocated for the development of bilateral relations with the Russian Federation, arrived in Moscow.

It is noted that Suzuki's views led to a scandal last fall, which ultimately forced him to leave the Japan Renewal Party.

As Hayashi emphasized, the government will not comment on the Japanese deputy’s visit to Russia.

He also recalled that Japan classifies Russia as a third-level danger country and does not recommend that its citizens visit it.

The Secretary General also voiced Japan's policy towards Russia. He stressed that Tokyo will continue to maintain sanctions pressure on Moscow due to the events in Ukraine.
