Israel says it doesn't want war in Lebanon but will respond to strikes

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant told Pentagon Secretary Lloyd Austin that Israel does not want war in Lebanon.

However, according to Galant, Tel Aviv will respond to the Lebanese strikes in a proportionate manner.

As the Israeli minister explained, any attacks by the Shiite movement Hezbollah will be met with resistance, as reported by TASS .

Galant, in particular, emphasized: “We do not seek war, but we are ready to stand up for the defense of our citizens.”

Critical situation

The official also conveyed to his American colleague the fact that the “connection” between Israel and the United States is of significant importance for Tel Aviv.

Galant added: "We also want to thank the head of the Pentagon for his personal commitment to Israel's security."
