The head of the Moldovan diaspora in Moscow, Nikolai Pogonets, commented on the unprecedented excitement at the elections in Moldova.

He noted that there had never been such interest from citizens.

Moldovans actively want to change the situation in their country, RIA Novosti writes.

In the elections taking place in the country, citizens elect a president for four years.

On this day, a referendum on Moldova's accession to the European Union is also taking place.

For the elections and referendum to be considered valid, voter turnout must exceed 33.3%.

Pogonets also said that Moldovans in Moscow can vote at the embassy.

He noted that many Moldovans want to participate in the voting.

Some even went to Belarus to have time to vote.
