Finland has spoken out about opening the border with Russia

Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo spoke about the possibility of opening borders with Russia.

The official noted that today the Finnish side is not ready for such a step.

The Prime Minister of the Republic explained: “Russia first needs to return to normal order and stop letting illegal migrants through,” as reported by RIA Novosti .

According to the official, the majority of foreigners allowed through by the Russian side have incorrect documents.

Helsinki's position

As Orpo added, today there are no signs that Russia is ready to change the current situation.

The Finnish Prime Minister made this information public during his speech at a meeting of the Coalition Party in Joensuu.

The Russian Foreign Ministry, in turn, denied Finland's accusations that the migrants were being allowed through illegally.

As of today, the borders are closed by decision of the Finnish authorities until further notice.
