The international anti-money laundering body FATF plans to blacklist Russia.
A decision on this issue will be made next week.
At its seventh plenary meeting, the FATF is considering the possibility of applying more serious sanctions against Russia, Politico reports.
In mid-July, Rosfinmonitoring reported that Russia had suspended its activities on the FATF platform.
Prior to this, on June 18, the FATF stripped Russia of its governing and advisory functions due to the SVO.
Russia was excluded from the FATF in February 2022, but was not blacklisted.
The FATF blacklist already includes North Korea and Iran.
The meeting of the FATF internal body is scheduled for October 22. On that day, a decision on the blacklisting of the Russian Federation is expected.
