The Estonian authorities may prohibit the submission of documents for residence permits in Russian.
This issue is included in the agenda of the Estonian government.
The document states: "A controlled migration policy must ensure the preservation of the Estonian language and culture." The details of the initiative are reported by the ERR television channel.
It is noted that when submitting documents for a residence permit in Estonia, new requirements of the authorities will be taken into account.
Among other things, this concerns mandatory proficiency in Estonian at a level of at least A2.
Earlier, Estonian Minister of Education and Research Kristina Kallas said that the country would increase supervision of the transition of Russian schools to the Estonian language of instruction.
