The Turkish President did not accept the invitation of Emmanuel Macron because of his 13-year-old granddaughter.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that he was invited to the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, but he changed his mind at the last moment.
The politician initially planned to visit the French capital and attend the main sporting event of the year, AFP reports.
Erdogan admitted that his granddaughter made him change his mind. She said that the opening ceremony would promote non-traditional values and asked him not to go to Paris.
The Turkish President is glad that he listened to his relative. The politician believes that the Olympic organizers have shown the world a disgrace, which he intends to discuss with the head of the Catholic Church.
Erdogan stressed that what he saw offended not only Christians, but also Muslims.
The Turkish leader pointed out that Western politicians are promoting non-traditional "heresy" while at the same time not allowing athletes to compete in hijabs.
