China threatens Taiwan with destruction if conflict escalates
The conflict between China and Taiwan continues to escalate.
In the event of escalation, Beijing does not rule out the destruction of the island.
This statement was made by the chairman of the island's affairs office under the Chinese State Council, Chen Binhua, Reuters reports.
Let us recall that on October 14, China conducted large-scale military exercises in the waters of Taiwan. The Chinese Navy, Air Force and Rocket Forces of China were involved.
Taiwan responded to the incident and called China's actions a provocation.
Beijing believes the move was meant to show "separatists" that the country will not back down from its plans to unite with the breakaway region.
As Chen Binhua emphasized, China does not intend to make commitments and renounce the use of force.
He noted that for Beijing, neither the number nor the types of troops and weapons that Taiwan has at its disposal matter.
However, if the enemy takes the risk of using weapons on the battlefield, China has not ruled out taking extreme measures and destroying Taiwan.
