Biden reacts to Harris' election failure
US President Joe Biden has issued a statement in support of Vice President Kamala Harris following her election defeat.
He called her campaign historic and based on a clear vision for the country's future.
Biden stressed that choosing Harris in 2020 was the best decision and said she will remain an example for future generations, the White House website reports.
Harris conceded defeat in the presidential election, winning 47.6% to Donald Trump's 50.9%.
She also announced her intention to continue fighting for women's rights and social equality in the United States.
Haris also said women have the right to make their own decisions about abortion.
The President praised the strong moral character of Haris, who decisively entered the election race under extraordinary circumstances.
Biden also congratulated Trump on his victory and invited him to the White House to discuss the peaceful transfer of power.
