It has become known that the head of one of the Moscow courts may become a defendant in a criminal case.

Chairman of the Solntsevsky Court of Moscow Artem Mateta is suspected of receiving 88 million rubles from one of the businessmen.

As RIA Novosti reports, citing a statement made during a meeting of the High Qualification Collegium of Judges (HQCJ) of the Russian Federation, the judge promised the man his protection.

In exchange for a large sum of money, a representative of the penitentiary system promised the businessman that criminal prosecution against him would be dropped.

However, Mateta did not have such power and influence over law enforcement agencies.

According to the investigation, the businessman deceived by him, Evgeny Kurko, transferred large sums of money to the judge several times. In particular, Mateta received 24 million 800 thousand rubles and 700 thousand euros during 2020.

In 2024, the judge offered the businessman $80,000 to help the Moscow Region Arbitration Court make a verdict in Kurko's favor. And then the latter turned to law enforcement agencies.
