Terrorist attack prevented in Moscow

Moscow law enforcement officers have thwarted preparations for a terrorist attack in northwest Moscow.

On Tuesday, August 27, police reported the arrest of a 27-year-old accomplice of the Russian Volunteer Corps*.

The Russian was recruited by a radical organization in October 2023, RIA Novosti reports.

Almost a year ago, the man entered into correspondence with representatives of the banned group. The communication took place in one of the messengers.

The Russian received instructions and tasks from the radicals. He was subsequently engaged in surveillance of the military commissariat building in the northwest of the capital.

The man took photographs, studied the area, and made escape plans.

The Muscovite came under the close attention of security forces at the beginning of the summer. Then he decided to commit a terrorist attack. In early June 2024, a criminal case was opened against the man.

Now the suspect in the preparation of the terrorist attack has been detained, law enforcement agencies reported.
