The capital's mayor addressed Muscovites who drive diesel cars.
The official suggested that residents of the capital give up their usual cars and switch to electric vehicles.
Sergei Sobyanin made this statement at the international forum “Russian Energy Week”, RIA Novosti reports.
According to the mayor of Moscow, the capital's government is currently working on implementing one project.
The plan calls for the transition of urban transport to electricity, which also includes electric vehicles.
At the same time, the official acknowledged that the electrification of transport is associated with certain difficulties. In particular, it is impossible as long as Russia only buys cars from China and does not produce them on its own.
The mayor himself admitted that he often drives electric cars, but has not yet switched to them completely.
The moderator asked Sergei Sobyanin whether she should sell her diesel car, to which the mayor answered in the affirmative.
