It has become known what changes will soon await the Moscow metro station "Kommunarka".
The capital's authorities intend to give it a different name and rename it "Novomoskovskaya".
This was reported on the official Telegram channel of the Moscow Department of Transport.
As emphasized in the publication, the corresponding decision was made by the capital's mayor, Sergei Sobyanin.
Initially, it is planned to indicate both the old and new names together, so that people can navigate. However, later, as emphasized in the publication, the name "Kommunarka" will completely disappear from the navigation.
The government believes that a new name was necessary. The station was named "Novomoskovskaya" for a reason: it will reflect the significance of this first transfer point in New Moscow.
It is noted that in total it is planned to update about 7,000 navigation elements where the old name of the station is mentioned. In particular, the route, platform and overhead signs will be updated.
