Alcohol addiction is a problem that a huge number of people face.

To identify the problem, you need to pay attention to the criteria of dependence.

"Addiction syndrome" from alcohol includes criteria. Specialists make a diagnosis if there are at least 3 criteria for 30 days or more.

RIA Novosti reports the details with reference to the chief freelance psychiatrist-narcologist of the Moscow Department of Health, Anton Masyakin.

It is noted that important criteria for addiction are craving for alcohol, inability to control the dose and time of intake, and the presence of withdrawal syndrome associated with the desire to "cure a hangover."

According to Masyakin, addiction may also be indicated by criteria related to the desire to increase the dose, alcohol consumption in the presence of serious illnesses.

He noted that the final criterion of addiction is a change in social functioning in favor of alcoholic beverages. This is the state when a person first of all chooses alcohol and gives it priority.
