Members of the Moscow City Duma have decided to increase the transport tax.

Deputies supported amendments to Moscow's tax legislation during a meeting of the capital's parliament.

The tax increase will affect owners of those vehicles for which the rates are currently lower than those stipulated by federal law, TASS reports.

It is noted that this tax has not been increased in the region for more than 10 years.

Over the decade, cumulative inflation exceeded 100%.

At the same time, the authorities emphasize that the tax increase will be gradual – no more than 10% per year.

The decision will come into effect in 2025, meaning that according to the updated tariff, the tax will have to be paid before December 1, 2026.

For example, for owners of cars with a 120 hp engine, the rate will increase by 3 rubles for each horsepower – from 25 to 28 rubles.

In this case, the total amount will increase by 360 rubles – from 3000 to 3360 rubles.

At the same time, all previously provided benefits remain in effect.

It was also decided to extend the zero tax for owners of electric cars for another 5 years.
