Sergei Sobyanin explained how regular replacement of tiles helps to replenish the city budget.

Commenting on this, the mayor of Moscow mentioned the joke about “Yuri Luzhkov’s treasure.”

The Moscow budget will spend almost 245 billion rubles in 2024 on the implementation of the “Urban Environment Development” program, Sobyanin announced at the “Territory of Meanings” forum.

The mayor published a video fragment of his speech on Telegram.

As part of this project, 785 streets of the capital will be improved in Moscow. Sobyanin emphasized that the paving will replenish the city budget by attracting tourists.

The mayor noted that the administration is constantly being reproached for excessive spending on improvements and especially on paving slabs.

Sobyanin said that a meme has already appeared in Moscow on this topic: the mayor is endlessly digging sidewalks because his predecessor Luzhkov buried a treasure on one of the streets.

The politician emphasized that in fact, a modern economy is buried there. The improvement of the city is now equal to a huge flow of tourists, which allows projects to pay off in record time.

Sobyanin pointed out that the 100 billion rubles spent helped to receive 120 billion rubles from tourism in a year.
