The Moscow prosecutor's office has released information that scammers in the capital have been extorting money from a pensioner for more than six months.

It is emphasized that the scammers first contacted the victim in October 2023.

In their official Telegram channel, law enforcement officials stated: “A stranger called the pensioner and said that he was an employee of Rosreestr.”

The fraudster subsequently informed the elderly woman that an unknown man had received control of her accounts and apartment.

The police said the criminal had misled the victim by telling her that she should transfer the money to supposedly safe accounts.

Subsequently, a second swindler was brought into the scheme. He introduced himself as an investigator and explained to the victim that he was investigating her case.

It is reported that the total damage from the actions of fraudsters amounted to 17.7 million Russian rubles.

At present, the case is under the control of the Gagarin Interdistrict Prosecutor's Office.
