An unusual cargo arrived in the Russian capital from Southeast Asia.

Details were provided on the official Telegram channel of the Federal Customs Service (FCS).

Customs officers found live ants in two parcels from Thailand. The cargo was heading to Moscow.

The declaration stated that the parcels contained children's toys and cookies. But scanning showed that they were trying to import hordes of ants into the Russian Federation.

The insects were placed in special test tubes filled with a nutrient mixture. Customs officers counted 171 incubators.

The parcel contained different species. For example, a trap ant, a foraging ant, a tropical carpenter ant and several others were found.

The law prohibits the shipment of live animals. This rule does not apply only to bees, leeches, silkworms.

As a result, the parcel was returned to the sender. The issue of opening an administrative case is also being considered.
