Hacker who stole over 180 million rubles from banks sentenced in Moscow

A capital court has sentenced a member of a hacker gang who was suspected of stealing over 180 million rubles.

Details were reported on Tuesday, August 27, by the press service of the Moscow prosecutor's office.

The defendant was 33-year-old Russian Anton Ekimenko, who stole millions of rubles from three banks in July-November 2014.

He managed to hide for several years. But in 2022, the defendant was arrested. After that, the investigation was resumed, the prosecutor's office website reports.

The case went to court. The man was found guilty of stealing more than 180 million rubles and sentenced to six years in prison.

The case materials state that the perpetrator used special software and the Internet to steal money.

He had accomplices. But their case is being processed separately.
