The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Moscow Region, Tatyana Petrova, told journalists about this, RIA Novosti reports.
A criminal case has been opened on the incident under the article on theft.
According to the agency, two female criminals pretended to be social workers and, under this pretext, entered the apartment of an 84-year-old pensioner.
They convinced the elderly man to show his savings by convincing him that the outdated bills needed to be replaced.
When the pensioner wanted to hide his savings, one of the women distracted him while the other criminal took possession of 200 thousand rubles.
It is noted that the police studied the recordings from street cameras and noticed that one of the suspects lit a cigarette near the entrance and threw the butt away there.
Forensic scientists examined DNA samples from the evidence and found matches in the database. It turned out that the theft was committed by a previously convicted 44-year-old woman, a resident of the Ryazan region, who was subsequently detained.
