Former adviser to the head of Dagestan sentenced to prison for bribery

A trial of a former official took place in Moscow.

For a large bribe, the former adviser to the head of the republic received 10 years in prison.

RIA Novosti reports this with reference to information received from the capital’s Babushkinsky Court.

Osman Makhachev was found guilty of accepting a bribe of 23 million and sentenced to 10 years in prison. The former official will have to serve his term in a maximum security penal colony.

In addition to imprisonment, the former official will have to pay a fine of 115 million. He was also deprived of the opportunity to hold public office for a period of 5 years.

Circumstances of the case

It is noted that Makhachev's case was retried. In 2022, the court already sentenced the former adviser to the head of Dagestan to 8 years in prison under the article on fraud.

However, the state prosecutor did not agree with this verdict, and the Moscow City Court supported the prosecutor’s point of view.

According to the investigation, the convicted person helped to get a job for the amount paid to him.
