A case of smuggling expensive gold jewelry has come to light.
A girl flying in transit from Nice via Istanbul tried to illegally transport jewelry worth 12 million rubles.
The Federal Customs Service of Russia reported this on its official Telegram channel.
The fact that the offender tried to pass through the green corridor helped to identify her. During the inspection, she presented a Patek Philippe watch, as well as a necklace and two gold rings from the Cartier brand.
As the examination revealed, the jewelry turned out to be genuine, made of 750-carat gold. According to a preliminary estimate, the jewelry could cost around 12 million rubles.
The detainee justified her actions by saying that the jewelry was her property, and therefore she did not intend to declare it.
It is emphasized that the alleged smuggler turned out to be a participant in world beauty contests. The girl's name is not given.
Law enforcement officers intend to initiate a criminal case under two articles:
If proven guilty, the suspect could receive up to 5 years in prison.
