It is no secret that bed linen acquires, over time, a gray tint. In this regard, many housewives ask themselves the question: how to whiten bed linen?

In answering it, it should be noted that this can be done independently, using both modern bleaches and folk methods that have been tested by time.

To bleach with modern means, pour hot water into a basin and add a little oxygen bleach. It is better to soak the linen in this water all night, and in the morning you can simply rinse it and wash it.

When using a washing machine, it is recommended to add a little bleach or powder enhancer to the washing powder.

For bleaching using a folk method, you can boil the linen. To do this, add a little washing powder to a large pot of water and place the bed linen there, after which the water must be brought to a boil.

You should boil it for about an hour, but you should stir the laundry. After that, you should take it out and rinse it under running water.

If the bed linen is too dirty, it is recommended to soak it overnight in hot water, adding three tablespoons of turpentine and ammonia. The next day, this linen can be washed.

If after washing the laundry still has a grey tint, it can be bleached using potassium permanganate.

To do this, pour hot water into a bucket and add a little washing powder and a small amount of potassium permanganate so that the water turns pale pink.

The washed laundry should be immersed in this solution and the bucket should be covered with film. After about an hour, the laundry should be taken out and rinsed in cold water.

In addition, there is another effective way to whiten bed linen. Pour hot water into a basin and add two tablespoons of 3% hydrogen peroxide and ammonia.

The laundry should be soaked in this solution for about half an hour, after which it should be rinsed in running water.
