Limescale on a kettle is the most common household problem; it not only spoils the aesthetic appearance of kitchen utensils, but also harms both the item itself and the human body.

Particles and scale elements in the form of harmful salts are deposited on vessels, veins and arteries, thereby polluting the cardiovascular system and even forming blood clots.

This is why it is so important to clean the surface of your kettle from scale.

Methods for descaling a kettle

An old and widely accepted method of removing scale from a kettle is to dilute vinegar in water in a 3:1 ratio, pour it into the kettle, boil it and let it cool a little, then drain the water and wash it in the usual way.

You can make a soda solution. Take 5 tbsp of soda for one standard teapot, pour water, add a couple of drops of citric acid, fill the teapot with this, but not to the top, and put it on the fire. When it boils with foam, turn it off and after 20-30 minutes, drain the water and wash it.

Citric acid in powder is so useful for cleaning a kettle from scale. To do this, pour several bags into the kettle, fill it with water and boil for about 30 minutes.

Some "advanced" housewives recommend cleaning the kettle from scale by boiling drinks such as Fanta, Sprite or Coca-Cola, but here you should take into account several nuances. Firstly, Fanta can leave its bright color on the walls of the kettle, and secondly, these drinks should be poured into the kettle completely without gas and not to the top.

The effective effect can be achieved by using an inexpensive and practically free product called “Anti-scale”.

Acetic acid can be diluted in water in a ratio of 1:10, pour the solution into a kettle, boil and keep on the fire until the scale is almost completely dissolved.

In some cases, toothpaste is mixed with a small amount of soda, the walls of the kettle are rubbed with the resulting mixture using a brush and left for 2-12 hours, and then the kettle is thoroughly washed.

Some sources mention the use of clean potato peelings, which are boiled in a kettle for 40-60 minutes, then everything is poured out and the procedure is repeated several times.
