With proper care, your favorite pillow can last for years.

Regular cleaning (washing) of bedding will extend its service life, taking into account the type of filler. After all, pillows are used constantly, and this affects their appearance and condition.

The ideal solution is to use dry cleaning. But this is not always possible for various reasons.

Therefore, most often you have to use home methods of cleaning products. You just need to choose the right means and method. This information is usually indicated on the model label.

It is not enough to wash the pillowcase. The pillow filling also needs care. After all, even very dense fabric does not completely protect it from human body waste, dust, moisture. An unpleasant smell and even mites appear.

When washing pillows, it is better to use gels or capsules for washing, rather than washing powder.

This will preserve the airiness and volume of the filler. In addition, washing should be done with the spin cycle turned off. The filler is squeezed out by hand. Otherwise, it will form dense lumps and lose volume.

Pillows with synthetic filling are machine washed. It is recommended to do this every 4-5 months.

Sintepon, comforel, latex, holofiber are perfectly washed with water (temperature not higher than 40 degrees) with dissolved detergent and are perfectly dried. Just turn on the "delicate" washing mode.

It is important to remember that such materials are too well saturated with detergents, so it is worth adding the maximum number of rinses.

When washing pillows with synthetic filling, there is a risk that they will lose their shape. Before the procedure, it is recommended to check how long they will retain the dents. If the pillows have lost their elasticity, it is better to limit yourself to dry cleaning. Otherwise, the filling will be felted and the pillow will have to be thrown away.

Washing pillows filled with feathers and down is quite a labor-intensive task. After ripping the pillowcase, the filling is laid out on covers for washing.

It is better to load the prepared covers into the washing machine one by one, adding tennis balls to the drum (so that the filler does not clump together).

Wash in delicate mode with maximum number of rinses. Water temperature should not exceed 40-45 degrees. Wash a couple of times a year.

Dry such filling in the sun, horizontally laid out, regularly whipping and shaking so that no wet lumps of fluff remain. The permanent pillowcase is washed separately.

Washing pillows with bamboo filling is done in a similar way. Pillows with wool filling are machine washed using detergents for washing wool products.

In any case, the pillow is reassembled into a single whole only after the filler has completely dried.

However, not all products can be washed. Washing is prohibited when using orthopedic fillers and memory foam.

Once wet, they completely lose their elasticity and shape. It is recommended to simply vacuum pillows with such fillers.

You cannot wash pillows with cotton wool filling. It simply clumps together and is almost impossible to dry. You should also not wash pillows with natural plant fillings.
