The Volgograd Regional Court has passed a sentence against Nikita Zhuravel.
The defendant in the case received 14 years of imprisonment to be served in a maximum security penal colony.
The united press service of the regional courts reported this on its Telegram channel.
The defendant admitted his guilt. It is noted that the sentence has not yet entered into force and can be appealed by Zhuravel's defense.
Nikita Zhuravel became a defendant in a criminal case in 2023, when he publicly burned the Koran in a Volgograd mosque.
It turned out that he was paid by the Ukrainian special services for this.
According to investigators, the 20-year-old boy’s cooperation with Ukrainian special services did not end with this offense.
It turned out that in March 2023, Zhuravel himself contacted the Ukrainian special services and offered his services. He sent prohibited information to his accomplice.
In particular, Zhuravel sent recordings of the movement of Russian military equipment, aircraft, and the official vehicle of one of the servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces.
