A woman who was injured in a collision between a passenger and freight train has died.
The emergency services of the Murmansk region reported that they did not manage to take the Russian woman to the hospital, TASS reports.
The woman died in the ambulance. A total of 14 people were injured.
The incident in Kandalaksha district occurred on Wednesday, December 18.
The collision was preceded by a breakdown of the freight train.
He stopped on the tracks along which a double-decker passenger train was traveling. It was heading to St. Petersburg.
A criminal case has been opened regarding the incident.
Rescuers and doctors are working at the scene of the emergency.
Russian Railways has created an operational headquarters, headed by the company's head Oleg Belozerov.
It was also announced that hospitalized passengers will receive compensation in the amount of 1 million rubles.
Passengers who received medical assistance on site will receive 500 thousand rubles each.
