In August, fraudsters most often use three schemes aimed at pensioners.

They are trying to deceive elderly people under the guise of recalculating their pensions, issuing compulsory medical insurance policies, and discounts on housing and communal services.

Fraudsters thus want to gain access to the personal funds of pensioners, RIA Novosti reports with reference to VTB.

The bank explained that these three scenarios of fraudulent attacks account for about half of all frauds against pensioners.

Using the first scheme, fraudsters, on behalf of the Social Fund, promise recalculation and an increase in pensions.

They try to gain access to the victim's smartphone in order to withdraw money.

In the second scheme, the fraudsters tell the elderly about fake discounts on housing and communal services.

They request personal data for further theft or obtaining loans.

Fraudsters also call on behalf of an insurance company to renew a compulsory medical insurance policy.

Scammers offer to download a malicious application to gain access to the victim's device.
