An incident that occurred in the capital of Azerbaijan has become known.
Two people died due to heavy rains that hit Baku.
The TASS news agency reported the incident, citing information provided by the press service of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Emergency Situations.
According to the department, heavy rains in Baku led to serious flooding of some areas of the city.
According to weather forecasters, in the past two days alone, the capital and the Absheron Peninsula have seen a record amount of moisture fall – 306% of the monthly precipitation norm.
In particular, water stood on many highways and road junctions, which led to the death of people.
In the Sabunchi district, a road tunnel was flooded, where two people were at that moment. They died due to the rampant elements.
A criminal case has been opened regarding the incident.
In order to minimize the consequences of what is happening, rescuers continue their work to pump water out of flooded areas of the city and provide assistance to those who are directly confronted with the rampant elements.
