The Investigative Committee has opened a case against former Deputy Defense Minister General Pavel Popov
The Russian Investigative Committee reported that a criminal case had been opened against former Deputy Minister of Defense, General Pavel Popov.
The reason is that Popov is suspected of fraud.
In its official Telegram channel, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation writes: "The accused has been detained at the moment. The defendant's enrichment scheme has been uncovered."
It is indicated that Popov organized the delivery of various valuables to his property at the expense of Patriot Park.
Progress of the investigation
The police also added that the accused took advantage of his official position between 2021 and 2024.
Popov, in particular, was responsible for the development and maintenance of the Patriot complex.
The investigation also established: "The detainee received money at the expense of the park. He carried out construction work and repairs in his own interests."
It is also emphasized that the defendant acted through his subordinates and also involved employees of commercial services in the case.
