Sulfuric acid leak in Nizhny Novgorod region
An incident involving a leak of a hazardous substance occurred in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
Traces of sulfuric acid were found at one of the railway stations.
RIA Novosti journalists learned about the incident from the press service of the Gorky Railway.
According to the department, the leak was discovered at the Igumnovo station, which is part of the Gorky Railway.
At about 13:00 (the same time as Moscow time), sulfuric acid was discovered leaking from a freight train tank.
To resolve the problem, the carriage was towed to a siding, where it was unloaded.
According to railway representatives, no one was injured in the incident.
The spilled acid did not cause any harm to the environment or interfere with rail traffic, which continues as normal.
The reason why the incident occurred remains unknown. Specialists are working on the scene to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
