A holiday in Asia for tourists from different countries ended in death from poisoning.

Six travelers died from drinking bad alcohol while on holiday in Laos.

Business Insider reports that the incident occurred in the tourist city of Vang Vieng.

"Bootleg" alcohol killed two 19-year-old Australian tourists staying at the Nana Backpacker hostel.

They purchased alcohol of dubious quality, drank cocktails in their room and soon felt unwell.

They were taken to hospital in critical condition. Doctors were unable to save the girls.

Later, four more people were hospitalized: an American, two Danish women and a British woman. It is not specified where exactly they purchased the alcohol.

However, an examination established that the cause of death of six tourists was methanol poisoning.

For reference

Methanol is a colorless liquid with the smell of ethyl alcohol, a poison that is dangerous to humans.
