A shooter fatally wounded a man and a woman in the village of Topolnica near Majdanpek.
Serbian Special Anti-Terrorist Unit fighters have neutralized the shooter who killed a married couple.
Despite negotiations, the 89-year-old man, holding a gun, did not want to give up, RTS reports.
Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said the man confronted police after the shooting.
Attempts at negotiation failed. He refused to give in despite the use of stun grenades and tear gas.
The shooter was eliminated after a lengthy police standoff.
The Interior Ministry said the shooter killed a man and a woman and wounded another person.
The fatal incident in the village of Topolnica near Majdanpek was preceded by a quarrel.
