The tragic death of the 35-year-old Russian athlete has become known.

Russian ice climbing champion Alena Vlasova died from complications following encephalitis.

This became known on October 8 from a message on the website of the Russian Mountaineering Federation .

The hospital stressed that the situation was aggravated by pneumonia.
