Pre-trial detention chosen for Defense Ministry General Muminjanov, suspected of bribery

The court decided the fate of the deputy commander of the Leningrad Military District for the coming months.

Major General Valery Muminjanov has been remanded in custody until November 2, 2024.

This became known on Tuesday, September 3, TASS reports.

The decision to choose a preventive measure was made by the 235th Garrison Military Court in Moscow.

The deputy commander of the Leningrad Military District (LenVO) will spend at least two months in a pretrial detention facility.

It is known that investigators requested precisely this measure of restraint for the high-ranking officer of the Ministry of Defense.

Muminjanov himself did not admit guilt in bribery. And his defense announced their intention to appeal the court's decision.

Thus, the lawyer representing him in court, Karina Lubenets, stated that she will seek to transfer the general to house arrest.

She added that her client "hasn't even been charged."
