Police arrest two St. Petersburg residents for issuing 500 bank cards to fraudsters

Russian Interior Ministry representative Irina Volk reported that in St. Petersburg, police detained two local residents for assisting scammers.

It is emphasized that two men helped the scammers obtain 500 bank cards.

In her official Telegram channel, Volk stated: “The detainees provided the criminals with access to their mobile banking.”

The stolen money was subsequently credited to the issued bank cards.

It was also reported that the arrested St. Petersburg residents did not have permanent jobs.

Volk added: “Both fraudsters and their accomplices got rich by issuing virtual bank cards.”

It is reported that for a one-time provision of access to mobile banking, the accused received an average of 10 to 17 thousand rubles.

It is preliminary reported that the St. Petersburg residents carried out their criminal activities between 2021 and 2023.
