New details of Mariinsky Theatre Premier Shklyarov's death revealed
Investigators have begun an investigation into the death of Mariinsky Theatre premier Vladimir Shklyarov.
The press service of the Investigative Committee for St. Petersburg commented on the details of the tragic incident.
The department told RBC that on the night of November 16, the artist fell from the balcony of his apartment when he went to get some fresh air.
The body of the deceased artist was found near his house on Vasilievsky Island.
Ballerina Irina Bartnovskaya said that Shklyarov went out to smoke on the balcony, which was quite narrow.
The Mariinsky Theatre confirmed the death of its artist. Shklyarov died at the age of 39.
He served in the theatre since 2003, where he entered after graduating from the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet.
Shklyarov danced in The Nutcracker, Romeo and Juliet, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty and other famous productions.
In 2020, Shklyarov was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Russia.
Investigators continue to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
