More than 80 people sought help after eating shawarma in Karelia

A case of mass poisoning by shawarma has been reported in Karelia.

More than 80 people sought medical attention due to symptoms of food poisoning.

The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Karelia shared this information on its official page on the social network Vkontakte.

According to updated data, 87 citizens felt unwell after eating shawarma. The food poisoning was so severe that people had to seek help at the Segezha Central Regional Hospital.

It is noted that 26 people from among the victims are currently receiving outpatient treatment. Of these, 16 victims are children.

It is noted that the condition of the patients is assessed as moderate.

In connection with the incident, an inspection was organized of an individual entrepreneur who is engaged in the preparation of shawarma.

The Ministry of Health has called on people not to ignore the obvious symptoms of food poisoning, which include vomiting, loose stools and increased body temperature.
