The man illegally attempted to export about 18 kilograms of precious metal from the Magadan region into the country.
This information was shared by the RIA Novosti agency, citing a message distributed by the press service of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
The value of the gold seized from a Russian citizen born in 1974 is estimated at 121 million rubles.
The man was driving along the Federal Highway "Kolyma" in his Nissan. He left the Magadan Region and was heading towards Yakutsk.
When he was detained by law enforcement officers, it turned out that there was a secret compartment in the vehicle, where they eventually discovered a valuable cargo weighing 18 kilograms.

As the FSB clarified, the confiscated precious metal is intended to be used to generate income for the state.
