In Russia, a man talked to scammers, lost an apartment and millions of rubles

The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Saratov Region reported that in Saratov a man spoke with scammers on the phone and lost an apartment and millions of rubles.

It is reported that the victim of the fraudsters was a 68-year-old surgeon from the Volzhsky district.

As the victim himself explained, he received a call from a man who introduced himself as a security officer, as reported on the official website of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the region .

The unknown person misled the victim with false information that her savings were at risk.

A major scam

Subsequently, a woman called the surgeon and stated that she allegedly was an employee of the Central Bank.

The fraudster suggested that the victim transfer his funds to a “safe account,” which the surgeon subsequently did.

Ultimately, the man lost not only his money, but also his apartment, having entered into a contract for its purchase and sale.

Based on the incident, the police opened a criminal case under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of Russia.
