Helicopter crashes on roof of luxury hotel in Australia

Emergency services have evacuated hundreds of people from the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel following a helicopter crash.

The helicopter's owner confirmed the flight was "unauthorized."

A helicopter crashed and caught fire on the roof of the Hilton Hotel in Cairns, Australia, on Monday, The Guardian reports.

According to police, the pilot died at the scene after the crash.

The fire that started led to a mass evacuation of guests from the luxury apartments.

The helicopter had one pilot on board, no passengers. The body of the deceased was found. The pilot was declared dead on August 12.

Police discovered that one of the helicopter's blades fell into the pool.

As a result of the incident, two people were injured and were urgently hospitalized.

After the propeller fell onto the esplanade in front of the building, no one present there was injured.

The identity of the deceased pilot will be officially established after a forensic examination.

The police are continuing their investigation to find out all the reasons for the incident.
