General Vadim Shamarin partially admitted guilt in accepting bribes

Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, General Vadim Shamarin, suspected of bribery, partially admitted guilt.

He is accused of receiving bribes amounting to 36 million rubles.

According to lawyer Igor Dyukin, Shamarin partially admitted guilt in receiving 19 million rubles, RIA Novosti writes.

General Shamarin has been detained and remains in pretrial detention until October 22.

According to the defense, he has been suspended from office.

The investigation established that Shamarin received a bribe from the general director of the Perm telephone plant "Telta" and the chief accountant of the company in the amount of 36 million rubles.

He promised bribe givers an increase in the volume of products supplied under government contracts for the needs of the Ministry of Defense and patronage.

All three defendants were arrested in May.
