The Supreme Court did not overturn the sentence of former captain of the FSB special forces "Alpha" Boris Chukaev.
The highest court upheld the 18-year sentence and left it in force.
Chukaev will continue to serve his sentence for the murder of businessmen, TASS reports.
The Supreme Court found no grounds to mitigate the sentence handed down by the Moscow City Court in 2022.
The complaint of the ex-captain's lawyers was dismissed, and the sentence was upheld in full following the Supreme Court session on Wednesday, November 20.
Chukaev was convicted of criminal activity that took place in the early 2000s.
Then the Alpha fighter, his comrade Alexander Chukanov and the Avoir Delta employee Andrei Voskresensky organized a series of kidnappings and murders of businessmen.
The trio was arrested in 2019, but only Chukaev lived to see the verdict.
Chukanov died in a pretrial detention center from coronavirus, and Voskresensky died after a fight with a cellmate - his heart gave out.
