Explosion in Volgograd: Two people killed
An explosion occurred at a sewage pumping station in Volgograd during work.
There were eight workers there at the time of the incident.
The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, July 6, in the Krasnoarmeysky district of Volgograd, RIA Novosti reports.
The incident occurred at the facility of OOO Kontsessiya Vodosnabzheniya on Izobilnaya Street.
An explosion occurred here, followed by the collapse of part of the roof. Two people were killed. Several more people may be under the rubble.
Rescuers and medics are working at the scene. The regional Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case.
The preliminary cause of the incident was a violation of safety regulations during welding work.
The Concession of Water Supply LLC ruled out external influence.
Local authorities said the victims were in "normal condition." There was no risk of the situation at the plant getting worse, officials said.
The explosion occurred near a residential building. The management company employees began going door-to-door to determine the number of damaged windows.
Earlier in Buryatia, a woman died as a result of a bear attack.
