A preliminary analysis of the incident revealed that the freight train carrying the ore was faulty.
The train began to move on its own, which resulted in a collision with the carriages of the passenger train located at its tail.
Accident in Murmansk region
Let us recall that the railway accident occurred at about 16:15 Moscow time the day before. As a result of the collision, four carriages of the train traveling from Murmansk to St. Petersburg derailed.
There were 321 people on the passenger train, two of whom died from their injuries.
According to updated data from the Ministry of Health, a total of 25 people were injured as a result of the accident.
