The former minister of the Moscow government was placed under arrest for two months.
Alexander Kibovsky has been remanded in custody until September 16.
The corresponding decision was made by the Zamoskvoretsky Court of Moscow, RIA Novosti reports.
The former official is accused of bribery on an especially large scale and attempted fraud.
During the court hearing, the investigator noted that Kibovsky was a suspect in serious crimes.
He stressed that if placed under house arrest, the former member of the Moscow government could use his connections and escape justice.
Kibovsky's lawyers indicated that the case materials do not contain evidence of their client's involvement in the alleged crimes.
The suspect himself stated that he did not understand the essence of the accusation. But he emphasized that he was ready to assist the investigation while under house arrest.
The court took into account the investigators' motion. Kibovsky was remanded in custody. According to preliminary information, the amount of bribes he received exceeds 100 million rubles.
